Permanent Waving Permanent waving, or more commonly known as "perms" are still around in fashion today. Contrary to the belief that perms are out of date and not done anymore in salons, I am seeing a resurgence in their popularity. Why? Because perms serve a great purpose in hair styling; they give hair structure and body where needed. The technology of perming hair has improved in the last 20 years and can do for the hair that styling product can't replicate. We are also seeing different techniques for perming the hair in various ways now. We perm to give texture, body and styling support in a way that looks natural. Perming might add lift and volumne to a flat crown, for example. Sometimes, clients do want to see some texture change: from flat and lifeless to curls! Also, you may think of perming as added styling support, for those West Coast wind and rainy days that don't help our hair. So have a thought outside the box and consider a perm, for those styles that may require added texture and body.
For some hair types with natural body, a large rod size placed in the direction of the client's hair style adds height where needed and will hold all day.
Japanese Chemical Straightening: Controls curly, wavy and frizzy hair The system of permanently straightening the hair has been a super haute hair trend in the last few years. Whether you need your hair to appear less frizzy, or create more control when trying to achieve straight hair, chemical straightening may be the right treatment for you. The results are smooth, silky hair. As every head of hair is unique and different, it is essential to have a consultation prior to having this treatment done.
Who cannot have it done: -those with a sensitive scalp, prone to irritation or damaged hair -hair that has been treated with highlights, pre-lightening products, henna or colouring products with metallic salts -not for use on children -anyone who has had other relaxing products applied to the hair may not be eligible for this treatment in order to prevent breakage of hair
The human hair mannequin shows what the permanent straightening system did for the hair; smooth, silky and straight. I let the hair dry naturally, with no heat tools to show the natural effect.
The "Before" picture up above shows the tight curl pattern of the hair and that there is grey in this hair as well!
